Muddling through

This is brutal. I just got home from work. Another 15 hour day. I am not sure most people really understand what it is like to be a tech. Many fancy the idea. However, the reality is not superior to the perception of the idea. The day started off with a meeting to determine the brand of future computer purchases. A meeting that simply took too much precious time. Now I will spend two days attempting to make up for lost time. And, here I thought last week was bad. Oh well in just a few hours I get to do it all over again.

My point is this: I wish we had adequate assessment for developing qualified administrators. We have discussed classroom assessment. While it is important. Is it not more important to development better assessment to allow global improvements in education. I believe that if there is better assessment methods used for all aspects of the institution it could pinpoint areas requiring improvement.

I guess I just keep hoping for the Utopia. Even as tired as I am.

Our assessment system at BU allows for the administrative side to use the same assessment processes as the academic side. However, the admin folks chose not to use it. That is an interesting side note on assessment ...
